OUR NEW COMPUTERS ARE HERE!
All systems now have Microsoft Office 2007 installed, as well as Internet Explorer 7 and the Mozilla Firefox web browser. The new computers can also burn DVDs and CDs.
Patrons who have used Microsoft Office 2003 will notice that Office 2007 has a different user interface. Microsoft has provided interactive guides for the Office 2007 suite to help you get accustomed to this new software.
The new computers no longer have floppy disk drives. Files stored on floppy drives are not accessible with the new computers.
We recommend that patrons purchase a USB flash drive (available at low cost from most major retailers) to store their files. USB flash drives have more capacity and are faster, more durable, and more reliable than floppy disks.
Files can also be stored online—if you have an account with a web mail provider, you can e-mail files to yourself, or you can use services such as MediaFire to temporarily store documents online.
The Community Library of Castle Shannon is proud to announce its involvement with the Abitibi Paper Retriever Program as a drop-off location.
You can now download audio books online. All you need is a library card number! Find out more about this here.
